Minuet
b f 1812 (Waxy - Woodbine, by Woodpecker). Sire
Line Pot8os.
Family 1-a. Bred by George Henry Fitzroy
(1760-1844), 4th Duke of Grafton, Minuet was one of four winners
produced by her dam. Woodbine, also bred by the 4th Duke,
produced four winners, including the full sisters Minuet and
Music (b f 1810 Waxy), both
Oaks Stakes winners. Minuet's sire Waxy (b c 1790 (Pot8os)
had been purchased by the 3rd Duke of Grafton in 1808 and
following his death became the property of the 4th Duke. During her four year turf
career Minuet won seven races, including the Oaks and July
Stakes, collected two forfeits, and finished 2nd in the One
Thousand Guineas Stakes. She was somewhat less successful in the
stud with her best offspring the stallion Bolero (b c 1822
Partisan). Bolero's son Delapre (br c
1841) was sent to Australia and proved useful there and his
daughter Glacis (ch f 1840) produced, among others, the
Norfolk Stakes winner Citadel (ch f 1848 Epirus). Minuet was shot
in April of 1833.
