Favourite |
Jackson's Favourite is recorded in the
General Stud Book as a bay filly [GSB 1:7],
however this is contradicted by earlier sources which state that she was
grey. She was otherwise known as the Gardiner's (or Gardener's) Mare,
who "won six royal plates of one hundred guineas each" [E2:95]. Her sire is identified by several
different sources as either Bridgewater's Horse, Bridgewater's Grey
Arabian, or the Widdrington Grey Arabian. The Turf Register
noted that Bridgewater's Grey Arabian was
formerly called the Widdrington Arabian [Pick 1:30]. Confusion probably
stems from the practice of calling Young Brisk by the name of
Bridgewater's Horse. Young Brisk (Bridgewater's Horse) was sired
by Bridgewater's Arabian. |
